America’s Garden Capital Passport

America’s Garden Capital Passport

To promote their network of gardens in the Greater Philadelphia region, Greater Philadelphia Gardens was in need of design and layout for a passport that would be both informative and interactive. The booklet features all 36 gardens, with spaces available for garden visitors to record their visits with stamps, notes, or drawings. By leveraging and elevating the existing brand, the resulting design creates a visual language that invites visitors to dive in.

As a companion to the larger illustrated map poster, a smaller, simplified map appears in the booklet.

We had the pleasure of working with Melissa on the design and production of our America’s Garden Capital Passport and complimentary Illustrated Map to promote the 36 gardens that are located within 30 miles of Philadelphia.

Melissa shared talents far beyond design with us for the duration of the project — she helped create the overall concept, and did extensive research on other Passport programs throughout the country. She always kept our core garden-enthusiast visitor at the center of all decisions and design elements.

This project has been so successful for our organization, Greater Philadelphia Gardens, that we did a reprint of the Passport and plan to support this visitor engagement tool for years to come. All 36 Philadelphia area gardens have been handing out Passports since 2019. Our garden guests love visiting all of the gardens featured in this pocket-sized Passport and enjoy collecting stamps, staff signatures, stickers, code words, and more. We’d highly recommend working with Melissa on any visitor engagement tools or design projects.”
